As the final piece of CityStation’s interiors upgrade, our focus shifted to transforming the penthouse into a shared amenity space accessible to all residents. With sweeping views across the valley and chic, brand new interiors, the space has become the cherry on top of an already active, in-demand residential building.

The penthouse was a perfect candidate for an amenity space, and offered natural perks, including an elevated viewpoint with unparalleled valley views and lofty ceilings, lending an inherent feeling of luxury. These existing features served as the starting point for our redesign.

Stripping the penthouse down to its essentials, we reconfigured the space to give it new purpose. Formerly divided rooms became an open layout, emphasizing a communal atmosphere. The residential kitchen was repurposed into a casual break area, providing a spot for residents to access coffee, ice, and basic food preparation essentials.

Segmented seating areas, strategically placed, accommodated diverse uses and higher capacity. Many areas play double or even triple duty; the large central table can be used for ping pong, and a former bedroom was converted into a movie room that can be transformed into a gaming center in seconds.

A large, multicolored mountain mural took center stage, grounding the break area within its surrounding landscape and adding a touch of artistic flair. The lighting, stairs, and fixtures are all sharp angles and long lines, their low profiles allowing the open central room to adapt to different uses without being weighed down.

We designed the penthouse to be convertible. Careful space planning and a cohesive design aesthetic did the heavy lifting to achieve this goal, allowing users to feel welcome in the space whether spending some alone time working on a puzzle or throwing a block party. It’s a space that elevates urban living, bringing the personal, welcoming feeling found in small towns to residences at the heart of the city.
